THE NUMBERS OF PIGEONS CARRIED BY BALLOON OUT OF PARIS, THE DATES OF RELEASE FOR RETURN FLIGHTS INTO PARIS, AND THE DATES OF ARRIVALS IN PARIS

The number of pigeons carried by a balloon is shown in the second column and is according to the Mangin brothers as quoted by Chamboissier; where the later tabulations of Savelon and Blanc differ, their figures are given in the third and fourth columns.

Where it is certain, or probable, that the pigeons never reached Tours or Poitiers, there is an X in the fifth column.

The numbers of pigeons released, as shown in the sixth column, come from Blay's reports quoted by Steenackers. Other pigeons were released prior to 16th October, some by the aircrew of the balloons.

The arrival dates shown in the seventh, eighth, and ninth columns are those collated by Savelon (S), those from a commentary in the official enquiry (E), and those on commemorative medals (M).
